There are moments when something deeply personal becomes universally understood.
This week, while on a cruise surrounded by the vast openness of the ocean, I experienced exactly that.
A simple symbol inked onto my arm — the sacred OM (ॐ) — became a bridge. Not through explanation… but through recognition.
Crew members from India would pause when they saw it. Their eyes would soften. Some would smile, others would gently nod. A few would say, “That is very powerful.”
And in those brief exchanges, there was an unspoken understanding:
This symbol is not just something you wear.
It is something you feel.
What OM Truly Represents
At its essence, OM (also written as AUM) is considered the primordial sound of the universe within traditions like Hinduism and Buddhism.
It is not simply a sound…
It is said to be the vibration from which all existence emerges.
OM holds three primary vibrations:
- A – The beginning (creation)
- U – The middle (preservation)
- M – The end (completion or dissolution)
And then…
There is the silence that follows.
That silence is just as important as the sound itself.
It represents the space of pure awareness — the place where everything exists before it takes form.
More Than a Symbol — A Living Frequency
The OM symbol is not just visual — it is energetic.
To those who have grown up within its cultural and spiritual roots, it carries generations of reverence, devotion, and understanding. It is woven into daily life, prayer, meditation, and identity.
So when someone recognizes it on you…
They are not just seeing ink.
They are seeing a shared language of the soul.
This is what I felt over and over again this week —
A quiet acknowledgment that transcended words, backgrounds, and roles.
A Moment of Reflection
Standing there, ocean air wrapping around me, I began to reflect on something deeper:
How often do we carry symbols, beliefs, or truths… without fully realizing the depth of what they hold?
And what happens when we begin to truly embody them?
Because OM is not just something to admire.
It is something to live.
To live OM is to:
- Trust the unfolding of life — even in its unknowns
- Honor both the noise and the stillness within you
- Recognize that every ending carries the seed of a new beginning
- Return, again and again, to your center
The Beauty of Sacred Connection
What touched me most during these interactions wasn’t just the meaning of OM…
It was the connection it created.
No long conversations.
No need for explanation.
Just presence. Recognition. Respect.
In a world that often feels divided, moments like this remind us:
There are deeper threads that connect us all.
Threads of vibration.
Of remembrance.
Of truth.
From My Heart to Yours
This experience felt like more than coincidence.
It felt like a gentle reminder — one I want to pass on to you:
What you carry matters.
Whether it’s a symbol, a belief, a practice, or a quiet knowing within you…
There is power in it.
And when you begin to honor it more deeply,
You may find that the world reflects that back to you in the most unexpected and beautiful ways.
A Gentle Invitation
If this resonates, take a moment today to pause.
Place your hand over your heart… or even over something meaningful you carry.
And softly — either out loud or within —
allow yourself to feel the vibration of OM.
Not just as a sound…
but as a remembrance:
You are part of something vast.
Something ancient.
Something deeply connected.
And you, too… are a living expression of that frequency.
Just Be True… to you.
Alignment will follow.
