Resiliency: Rising Beyond the Storm

There are moments in life that change us forever. In 2002, I faced one of those moments — I was attacked at gunpoint outside of my apartment. I fought back physically that night, but the deeper battle came after: the long process of healing, of finding safety in my own body again, and of learning how to breathe through the invisible waves of fear that would surface as PTSD.

Resiliency, I’ve come to learn, is not just about getting through a single event. It’s about showing up for yourself day after day, even when the memories resurface or the anxiety whispers its doubts. It’s the quiet strength to keep moving forward, the courage to seek peace in the midst of uncertainty, and the grace to allow healing to unfold in layers.

I was determined to be a survivor, not a victim. Staying the course through the emotional ups and downs was how I learned to move through the challenges that came my way. The storm itself became my teacher — it showed me my strength, my will, and my capacity to fight back, not in anger, but in self-belief. When we choose to be the hero of our own story, we begin to build a strength that comes from within. We realize that we can overcome, rise, and even transform the pain into purpose.

Resiliency is about learning to ground yourself even when the winds of life try to pull you off center. It’s the ability to stay focused on what matters most — your healing, your peace, your truth. It’s remembering that you are limitless, and that the only real limitations are the ones you create within your own mind.

There were many moments when my self-doubt tried to take the lead, when fear whispered “what if?” and painted pictures of every possible outcome. The “what ifs” can take you down a dark and lonely road if you let them. But resiliency taught me to replace those questions with new ones — What if I rise? What if I heal? What if this becomes my strength?

Each time I chose hope over fear, I reclaimed a piece of my power. And little by little, I became the calm after my own storm.

You are capable of rising. You are stronger than your pain. And you are never truly broken — only becoming whole in a new way.

The Heart of Just Be True

This journey is the heartbeat behind Just Be True. It’s a reminder that our greatest healing often comes from the places that once felt impossible to move through. My path has taught me that authenticity, love, and spiritual connection are the foundation of true resiliency.

Through every workshop, Messages Thru the Veil, blog, YouTube, and class I offer, my intention is to create a space where others can rediscover their own strength — a place where healing feels safe, inspired, and divinely guided. Whether through crystal energy, meditation, or spiritual reflection, you are invited to step into your own story of transformation and remember this truth: you are whole, you are powerful, and you were made to rise.
